Support and assistance for Soldiers, Veterans and their Families

The GLAC AUSA Military Assistance Fund  For Units,
Military Members, Families and Veterans

One of the prime missions for GLAC AUSA is “Support for Soldiers, Veterans and their Families.”  The GLAC AUSA Military Assistance Fund is an essential tool in our ability to execute that mission.

We raise funds each year to support our local military units with non-appropriated funding activities such as holiday parties; family programs readiness training, deployment / redeployment ceremonies.

The GLAC AUSA Military Assistance Fund can also provide support to our military struggling with financial, employment and homelessness issues.

Past requests have included, but are not limited to:

  • Prepaid cards for gas, food and clothing
  • Payments made to financial institutions in cases of vehicle repossession
  • Payments to landlords to avoid evictions
  • Payments to utility companies
  • Assistance with airline travel for family emergencies

We also have a special program to assist (as funds are available) with tuition, books and vocational school expenses.

Military Assistance Fund – Program Specifics

GLAC AUSA offers two basic types of financial assistance:

  • Unit Assistance – Support our local military units with non-appropriated funding activities such as holiday parties; family programs readiness training, deployment / redeployment ceremonies
  • Individual Assistance – support to local military members (all services, but our focus is the Army) struggling with financial, employment and homelessness issues.  This fund is available to all services and includes, Veterans, Soldiers and families

Military Assistance Fund – How does it work?

What to do if you are in need of individual assistance:

  • We request that the military chain of command be made aware of special financial needs (as appropriate)
    • Requests for emergency financial assistance should come from leaders, FRG and other support organizations; under special circumstances, funding requests may be sent directly to GLAC AUSA by the military member
    • Each request will be evaluated on its own unique circumstances and merits
    • The first step in the process is to complete the Individual Request for Assistance form
    • Forms can completed and submitted on line (below) or you can download a pdf of the form
    • Complete the form and submit it via email to: COL (Ret) Pete Seitz, glac.ausa.assistance@gmail.com
    • No direct cash payments to Soldiers/Veterans are made; payments are only made to companies, etc., verified on invoices
    • We understand that many of the financial needs require immediate attention – we have the ability to respond within 24-48 hours
